Resting
“Come to me, all of you who are tired and are carrying heavy loads. I will give you rest.” Matthew 11:28
These words of Jesus are about rest…true rest. His promise of rest covers every emotional struggle, each mental anguish, as well as the fatigue of body that accompanies inner turmoil.
We are not compartmentalized women, having neat precise lines dividing our emotions from our intellect. It’s next to impossible to make calculative choices without involving feelings about the issue. And then, the physical side of us hops up and down, wanting equal attention!
Bottom line. If I’m weary from emotional baggage, my body succumbs to the stress and I feel horrible and can’t think clearly. If I don’t get enough sleep or indulge in fatty, sugary foods, and never exercise – I plummet emotionally, mentally, and physically.
We are women; packaged with physical, emotional, and mental needs. And when either of these areas gets out of balance, the whole package seems to go haywire.
Let me ask you: Where do you need REST today?
Are you physically exhausted from keeping up with an over-packed schedule which allows little time for rest and needed sleep?
Does your heart feel over-stuffed with bursting emotions because of constant attention to family needs and daily commitments?
Is your mind reeling from endless attempts to reason it all out and somehow make the pieces fit together?
Dear One, Jesus has REST for you when you turn to Him. He longs to show you just how much He cares. When you come to Him in the quiet moments first thing in the morning, He will gradually fill you with a sense of His presence.
As you open His Word and discipline yourself to “just be with Him” consistently each day, you’ll begin discovering the JOY that He has available just for you at this time in your life.
The first step to enjoying true rest, is to begin a life-long relationship with Jesus Christ. Click on the “Jesus is the answer to your stress” link on the homepage to find out how to accept the gift of your salvation.
Next, if you want to experience His Rest, you must determine to begin each day in worship as you read His Word and have some quiet time in His Presence. This determination will birth a new and meaningful way to begin your day.
God loves you. He has a plan for you. And – part of that plan is that you rise above the stress in your life and enjoy the fullness of His Presence.
Go ahead. Trust Him, be with Him, and receive your REST from Him.

“Jesus said, ‘Come away with me by yourself to a quiet place and get some rest.’ “ Mark 6:31
