A Fresh Encounter With Jesus
What I long for more than anything in these first weeks of 2008, is a fresh encounter with my Lord!
I can feel the busy-ness piling up. With family togetherness and celebrating, now a fleeting memory, I can sense the tensions rising with the stressors of daily living.
We sure live in busy times, don’t we?! My life is full of projects, deadlines, people to care for, house-cleaning, all sorts of paperwork and filing, bills, appointments . . .etc.
Right now, in the wee hours of the morning as I write, all I want is JESUS. All I need is JESUS. If I can just get to Jesus, I’ll be okay!
Sadly, a lot of Christians just don’t get it. For many, attending church on Sunday and having a quick read of scripture on a daily basis fulfills their spiritual duty, as they see it. As a result, God seems distant, unapproachable, and not at all a part of the details of their life. The freshness of an exciting love relationship is totally absent.
It’s so easy for that to happen. Before you know it, you become absorbed with everything to be done – and stressed because you don’t have the time to accomplish your never-ending to-do list, and the REALITY OF JESUS eludes you.
It doesn’t have to be that way. Right now at this very moment you can bow your head and your heart before your Lord, asking Him to revive your spirit and recapture your heart. By loving Him through worship each and every day, your heart will be refreshed and your spirit energized.
It’s not hard. But it is a determined choice to seek Him first at the beginning of each new day and many times throughout the day. He’s inviting you to choose to have a fresh encounter with Him.
Dear Lord, I’m desperate for YOU through every part of my day. You are my sanity and my joy. Right now, I choose loving You, as the priority of my life. Tomorrow and the next day I’ll choose You again. Yes Jesus, if I can just get to You, I’ll be okay. Help me guard my heart so that loving You is my life’s priority. Then, everything else will be okay – yes, truly okay.
Above all else, guard your heart, for it is the wellspring of life. Proverbs 4:23
