IA Step Shy of FRAZZLED!

Almost there, but NO! There’s no way I’m giving into the subtle undertow that’s persistently inching me step by step towards that deep and convoluted sea of STRESS! I can feel it tugging at my mind, my body, and my emotions – as the first month of 2009 rolls in.

On the surface I’m pretty calm and steady. All’s well on the homefront. Ministry doors are opening and BIG things are happening in the lives of women who are attending our Frazzled Female events. Stories of victory are being shared from those going through the FF Bible studies. Life is good and God is AWESOME. . .

. . . and yet, the undertow.

That deep-down and often ignored nudge that leads to a frenetic and get ‘er done lifestyle . . . is hanging over my spirit, much like a weighted-down handbag draping over my shoulder. Schedules, meetings, technology, things to do and places to be . . . oh yeh, and people to take care of! The busyness, the complications of daily living, the STRESS!

An undertow occurs when waves break on shore, then join waters from previous waves – creating the current which runs back out to sea. Sometimes currents are gentle. Sometimes they gather momentum and strength and swallow whatever (or whomever) is in their path.

Yep. I can relate. I’ve been SWALLOWED UP by stress before. Have you?

Not this time, though. I know the difference. I know Him personally. Jesus Christ is greater than my schedule, greater than my To Do list, greater than any stressor that looms in and around me!

Greater is He who is in me, than any undertow of stress in my life!
(1 John 4:4 – my paraphrase)

So. I may be close to being frazzled. Truth is at any given moment, I’m just a step away. But by God’s Grace and the Holy Spirit’s strength . . . I can focus on Christ who lives within me, and He gives peace, joy, and stability to my inner being. He floods my soul throughout with His control and His direction.
